The hotel Restaurant serves a variety of seasonal Japanese dishes in a private setting. It is open for breakfast and dinner hours. The lounge also serves various beverages and small snack items. Accessibility
The buses servicing the onsens have wheelchair lifts in the back. Arrive a bit early to let the ground staff know which hotel/onsen you will be going to so they can help you on the bus before other riders. Be warned that the buses have a very limited schedule and missing the bus can leave you stranded. The only bus from the hotel in the morning leaves a few minutes before checkout. Wheelchairs can be borrowed at the entrance if needed.
Hakone Hatsuhana has one accessible Universal Premium Room. This luxury room is very spacious and actually has two rooms (bed/living room and a Japanese tatami mat room), as well as an outdoor private deck with its own hot-springs-fed bath. The room décor is a mix of western and Japanese style. (Note: while other rooms may appear to be accessible in the pictures on the hotel website, they all have a step at the entrance.)
The toilet is in its own room with a wide entry door, its own sink, multiple grab bars, and bidet. Note that the sink in the toilet room may not be wheelchair accessible, but one of the double sinks next to the shower is. The shower is nestled between the inside dual-sinks and outdoor deck, it has sliding glass doors on both sides which can make it a bit easier for a caregiver to assist in the shower.
An accessible unisex toilet is available on first floor, equipped with multiple useful fixtures including grab bars, bidet, and accessible sink.
The spa area is down a flight of steps and inaccessible. The main public baths are not accessible, but one of the private baths has no steps – advanced reservations are required.
